Last night I was so lucky to see the opening night of Legally Blonde the Musical @marlowetheatre in Canterbury and it was AMAZING!! 💕✨
Before we get onto the show, let me jump to the interval! We got to go in the Green Room which was just lovely! We had a table set up with strawberries and cream (which were delicious!), mummy had a glass of bubbles and I had a non-alcoholic one of course! 🥂🍓 The staff were so lovely and really looked after us. A big shoutout and thank you to the Green Room team for making it feel so special! 💖 Definitely give it a try if you want to make your theatre visit extra special!
Back to the show… the story follows Elle Woods, who loves pink and small dogs (just like me! 🐶💖)! At first it seems like she’s just into fashion and being popular, but she surprises everyone by chasing her dreams and proving how clever and determined she really is 📚
Without giving any spoilers, some of my favourite moments were definitely the big musical numbers. ‘Omigod You Guys’ was such a fun and exciting start and got everyone smiling straight away! ‘Whipped Into Shape’ was one of my favourites – the energy was huge and I loved how it told the story through the set and the whole cast working together. And managing to sing like that whilst exercising… I think everyone was impressed by that!
I loved Elle as a character. She was funny, kind and really determined, and Amber Davies was absolutely brilliant in the role! ⭐ She had so much energy and was amazing to watch the whole way through. Her ability to switch emotions so quickly made Elle feel really real and believable, and it completely drew you in. She moved so naturally between funny moments and more emotional, vulnerable ones, which made the story even more special ✨
A special mention to Lauren Hampton who played a number of different characters including Kiki, the Stenographer and Mum – making each one her own. She really shone every time she came on stage, and switching between roles so easily was so impressive!
I have to mention the dogs. Bruiser (Elle’s adorable dog!) completely stole the show 🐶 His real name is Sprout, which is honestly the BEST name ever for a dog! And not forgetting Paulette’s dog too, who was just as cute and got lots of smiles from the audience 🐾
The costumes and set were bright and colourful and so cleverly used. They really added to the show and helped bring every scene to life in such a fun and creative way. The choreography was so slick, and every dancer completely drew your attention, it was so exciting to watch! 💃✨
It was such a feel-good show that made me laugh and feel really inspired. It’s so hard to pick people out because the whole cast were brilliant, and it’s a must-watch. You will love every minute of it! Grab your tickets now while it’s still showing! I would definitely recommend it 💕
Legally Blonde is playing at Marlowe Theatre until Saturday 28 March.
