Okay, I HAVE to give this brand-new musical a massive 5★ I loved it.
I went in only knowing a couple of Steps songs, but honestly, from the opening number, I was OBSESSED. The story is set in a seaside supermarket (which sounds random but works so well) and follows four co-workers who make a pact to sort their love lives out before one of them turns 50… and let’s just say it doesn’t all go smoothly.
All the characters are so different, which makes their friendship feel really real and fun to watch. One of the leads was actually an alternate that night, but you would never have known – she was amazing!
As a dancer, I always watch the ensemble closely and WOW… they were incredible. The amount of dancing in this show is unreal, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much.
The staging was super clever too – the whole supermarket vibe with the colour coordination looked so cool. And the costumes?? Obsessed. There was even a sparkly washing machine dancing around the stage… iconic.
And the music… I can officially say I’m now a Steps fan. Every song is so catchy and fun, you can’t help but enjoy it.
100% recommend, go get tickets ASAP!
Here & Now: the Steps Musical @thestepsmusical is at the Marlowe Theatre @marlowetheatre until Saturday 16 May, and it’s the final week of the tour, so don’t miss it!
